WordPress

Connect a WordPress site so RankYak publishes articles for you, live or as drafts.

The WordPress integration lets RankYak publish articles directly to your WordPress site. Once connected, every new article is posted automatically, either live or as a draft for your review. There are two ways to connect: the official RankYak plugin, which configures everything for you, or a manual connection using a WordPress application password. Both end in the same place, so you may choose whichever you prefer.

Connecting with the plugin

The plugin is the fastest path and the one you should reach for first.

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add Plugin.
  2. Search for RankYak, install the plugin, and activate it.
  3. On the setup page that opens, click Connect RankYak.
  4. In the popup, select the RankYak project you would like to connect, and confirm.

The plugin configures the connection automatically. Of course, you may also download the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory and upload it manually.

Connecting manually

Sometimes you may wish to connect without installing a plugin. In that case, RankYak authenticates with an application password.

First, generate the password in WordPress:

  1. Go to Users, then Profile.
  2. Scroll to Application Passwords.
  3. Enter a name, for example "RankYak", and click Add New Application Password.
  4. Copy the generated password; WordPress shows it only once.

Then, connect the site in RankYak:

  1. Go to Settings, then Integrations, and click Connect next to WordPress.
  2. Choose Connect manually.
  3. Verify the prefilled Site URL, fill in your WordPress username, and paste the application password.
  4. Click Connect.

Publishing as drafts

If you would like to review each article before it goes live, you may tell RankYak to create drafts instead of publishing directly.

  1. Open your project's Settings, then Integrations.
  2. Click Edit settings next to the WordPress connection.
  3. Enable Publish articles as draft.

New articles now appear in WordPress as drafts, so you may read, edit, or schedule them on your own terms before publishing.

Default categories and tags

In the same integration settings, you may choose default categories and tags. RankYak applies them to every article it publishes, so your posts land in the right place in your site's structure without manual sorting.

Disconnecting

To stop publishing to WordPress, go to Settings, then Integrations, and click Disconnect next to the WordPress connection. Publishing stops immediately; articles already on your site are not affected.
