The content plan

How RankYak plans a month of articles from your keyword pool, and how to adjust the plan.

The content plan is the schedule RankYak works from. Each month, it selects the best keywords from your pool and assigns one to every scheduled day. On its date, the planned article is written automatically and, if you have connected an integration, published to your site. This page explains how the plan is built, when it regenerates, and how you may adjust it.

Choosing the keywords

When RankYak fills the plan, it draws from your project's keyword pool and prioritizes high-opportunity keywords: those whose search volume is high relative to their difficulty. A keyword is skipped when it is archived, when it is already on the plan, when an article has already been written for it, or when you already rank for it (which RankYak learns from your Google Search Console connection). So the plan naturally keeps moving toward keywords your site has not covered yet.

Keywords you add yourself join the same pool. If you would like one of them written on a specific date, you may swap it into the plan directly.

The monthly rhythm

The plan always covers the remainder of the current month, with one article per scheduled day. About a week before the month ends, the plan for the next month is generated automatically, and the calendar shows the exact date this will happen in a notice on the upcoming month. There is nothing to trigger by hand: the plan keeps itself topped up, month after month.

Of course, planning respects your schedule settings, so days you have disabled receive no articles. You may change the days and the time of day in the schedule settings. If you would rather plan every article yourself, you may turn off the Auto scheduling toggle in the same settings; RankYak then writes articles only for the keywords you schedule on the calendar.

Refreshes and rewrites

New articles are planned until your project reaches its keyword target, which you may set under Settings, then Project, in the Topical coverage section. Once the target is reached, RankYak uses the remaining days to refresh or rewrite your existing articles instead, provided you have left those options enabled in the Content automation section. These items appear on the calendar with a refresh or rewrite marker.

Regenerating the plan

Sometimes you may wish to start over, for example after changing your schedule or archiving a batch of keywords. Click Reschedule in your project's Schedule settings.

Rescheduling clears every planned article that has not been started yet, including ones you planned manually, and builds a fresh plan from your current settings and keyword pool. Articles that have already been written or published are not affected.

Adjusting the plan

You do not need to regenerate the whole plan to make small changes. You may change the keyword for any planned day, move a planned article to another day by dragging its card on the calendar, or remove it from the calendar entirely. And you may change how often and when articles are written in the schedule settings.
