Memory
What RankYak knows about your business, and how you tell it what to add, change, or remove.
The memory is what RankYak knows about your business: the facts that articles may mention, and the rules that every article follows. When an article says something about your business, RankYak takes it from the memory, together with your products and services and your money pages. This page explains what the memory holds and how you keep it right.
What the memory holds
The Memory page in the left-hand menu shows the memory in three parts.
About your business shows the description of your business and of your audience from your settings. Of course, you may change these in the settings at any time.
What RankYak knows holds the facts about your business, sorted by area: the business itself, your audience, how you work, your policies, proof such as awards or certifications, and your contact details. Each fact shows where it came from: a page of your site, or you.
How articles should write holds your rules for every article, such as the voice to write in, or the topics and words articles should never mention.
Where the facts come from
RankYak reads your site about once a month and adds the facts it finds. A fact from your site links to the page it came from, and you may hover over the link to see the words RankYak read there.
Sometimes a read of your site does not work. A message at the top of the page then says what went wrong, and the memory stays as it was.
Changing the memory
You change the memory through the chat on the Memory page. Tell RankYak what to add, change, or remove in your own words, such as "We've been family-owned since 1987" or "Never mention our old address". RankYak proposes a change, and you click Save to keep it or Discard to drop it. Nothing changes until you save.
Of course, you may also ask the copilot from any page, such as "Remember that we are closed on Sundays". The copilot saves the change to the same memory, under the same rules, and tells you what it saved.
If you would like to fill an area that is still empty, click its name under the facts or the rules. RankYak puts the start of a sentence in the chat, and you finish it.
To change or remove a single fact or rule, open the menu on its row and choose Edit or Remove. A removed fact stays out of the memory, so RankYak does not add it again on its next read of your site.
When you change a fact that came from your site, your version replaces it, and RankYak does not add the old fact again on its next read.
