Products and services
The list of what you sell, which RankYak uses to mention your products and services accurately in your articles.
Products and services is the list of what you sell. When an article mentions one of your products or services, RankYak takes its name, its price, and its details from this list, together with your business information and your money pages, so the article states what is true for your business. This page explains where the list comes from and how to keep it accurate.
Where the list comes from
RankYak fills the list for you. If your site runs on Shopify or WooCommerce, RankYak reads the products and collections from your store. Otherwise, it reads the products and services from the pages of your site. Above the list in Products and services, in the left-hand menu, you may see where the list comes from and when RankYak last read it.
RankYak reads the list again from time to time. If you would like to update it sooner, click the update button next to that line. You may update the list once an hour, so the button appears again an hour after the last read.
Sometimes a read does not work, for example when your store shows a password page. A message above the list then says what went wrong, and your list stays as it was until the next read succeeds.
Adding a product or service
Typically, RankYak finds what you sell on its own. Of course, you may add a product or service that it missed:
- Go to Products and services in the left-hand menu.
- Click Add product or service.
- Choose whether it is a product or a service, and enter its name.
- Add the page URL, the price, a description, and any details you would like articles to mention.
- Click Save.
Details are short facts, such as a material, a size, or how long a service takes. Articles use them when they mention the product or service, so a specific detail makes for a more accurate article.
Editing a product or service
Open the menu on a row and choose Edit to change its name, description, or details. Your changes stay when RankYak reads the list again, and the row shows an Edited badge.
For a product from Shopify or WooCommerce, your store sets the page URL, the price, and the stock. You should change those in your store, and RankYak picks them up the next time it reads your store.
Keeping something out of your articles
The switch in the In articles column decides whether new articles may mention a product or service. Turn it off for something you no longer want to promote, such as a seasonal product. RankYak does not turn the switch back on when it reads the list again.
Deleting a product or service
You may delete a product or service that you added yourself, from the menu on its row. New articles then stop mentioning it. A row that came from your store or your site has no delete action, because the next read would bring it back. Instead, turn off its switch in the In articles column.
